UI design : Restaurant Kiosk

This is a UI design project where I choose a theme for my restaurant, then researched for color themes, made custom icon and also typography.

Selecting the theme

Before starting the research I thought of what kind of restaurant I want to make and who will be my target audience. So I came up with an retro themed restaurant which will give the vibe of India of 70s and 80s. It will have the color palette of that era and props like vintage cars, couches, etc.

Target audience will be younger generation who have heard stories from their dad's generation and never experienced that vibe. Although it will have an vintage theme, food ordering will be done through a digital kiosk which will be attached in their table from which they can order and make payments.

Benchmarking

Get ready to have your heart pumping fast as you approach the premise of the new Detroit bar. You'll be thrilled to see the Vintage car themed seating arrangement. Once you have relived the city of Michigan, you'll be startled by the DJ console which has a tailored addition of the front of a bus. With amazing wall hangings of vintage cars to a stage for live performances, there isn't a thing that won't uplift your mood.

Garam Dharam is every Dharmendra fan’s haven for food. Known for its offbeat desi dhaba ambiance and interesting twist on food, Garam Dharam immediately captures you with its unique rustic decor, Sholay-themed bike, and DJ truck. Binge on the best butter chicken only at Garam Dharam as their specialties focuses on North Indian Food.

Color Research

The most widely used colors in movies that time were Red, Orange, Green and Yellow.

These colors will represent the old times and will give the oldies Bollywood feeling to the restaurant.
It will take the user to golden time and make them experience the vibrant colors of that era. The same colors are what most of the food and dishes have.

This is the final color palette I choose for my kiosk which include analogous scheme of Red, Orange and yellow which is the most used color in both retro time and food.

I also tried to add the color in color tool to get the right balance in UI.
